Really? I have four or five hammers and don’t desire to use one of them. Hammering in the morning is frowned upon by the Homeowners Association. If you are going to hammer, you should wait until about two hours after sunrise. In the winter, it is best not to hammer until the afternoon. Better yet, put away the hammer and wait until tomorrow. Tomorrow is the best day of the week; there is nothing that is impossible tomorrow.
You say you are not concerned about the Homeowners Association? Well, aren’t you special. You may not fear the official written notice from them, you may not fear the fine, but you must fear the task force. These people have waited all their lives to live where the rules are so copious, intertwined, and confusing that you may as well do your own taxes, too. These folks study, debate, and refine the rules and will punish and humiliate any rulebreaker. This is a world where leaving your garage door open too long can get you a warning. It is where the adult pool is for those 35 years of age and up. These people have waited all their lives to live in a place that controls everything imaginable. A place where lying about the weather is a sport. They will tell you it is not that hot while removing their black socks and peeling their flip-flops off the hot asphalt.
Oh yes, about the feared task force. They have no actual power except for their acts of terror. If you are a recurring rulebreaker, you may be due for a visit. Late into the night, sometimes as late as 9 p.m., they don their hoodies and sneak around the neighborhood. Their trusted steads, held back by a leash, parade ahead until they arrive at the lawbreaker’s lawn. This is where the action occurs: the drop (dump) and the hooded task force member fades into darkness. This is the severest action in the arsenal of the task force; however, ammunition is always readily available for another run.
Hey, it stopped raining. I need to get down to the Publix parking lot; you won’t believe how people park when there is a little rain. I will be sure to post some of the pix on Facebook. Bad parking seems to be a sport here. I just love this kind of stuff. Who needs a hammer?
In a world of pain, a bit of humor is a necessity. James D. Allen
